Why you should record your weights

.

Recording the weights that you are training with should be considered just as important as tracking how much calories you are consuming; especially if you are pursuing a fitness goal.

.

By recording the weight you are training with, this will allow you to chart your progression throughout your program. How long have you been using the same weight? How many reps are you managing to complete? Are you continuously trying to increase the intensity of the exercise by increasing the weight?

.

It is very easy to fall into complacency in your training when you have no clear structure or data to follow/analyse. Yes, you may have that initial boost of motivation to achieve your goals; however, it may not last long if you are not recording anything, particularly your weights.

.

Another benefit of recording your weights is charting the intensity of each exercise. The weight you are training with should reflect the targeted repetition of that exercise. For example, if you are doing 10 repetitions of chest press and you feel that you could have completed another 10; record the weight, then increase the weight to a value that you can do no more than 10 reps next time. This is why it is important to keep track and record your weights.

.

Train with intensity. Get results!
