It’s that time of year again…

It’s that time of year again where many people are rushing into ‘a new year a new me’ diet approach & of course thats great that many of you are thinking of making a change. Thats why were here – to help you start off with the right approach – a healthy one and not to try and overload your mind and body too much too soon.  What Iv learnt over the years from yo-yo dieting to cutting out carbs to doing juice diets (I can’t believe I’m saying this) is that no short term ‘fix’ fixes anything. 

It may bring you rapid weight loss but with that your may experience extreme tiredness (from the extreme low cals), major cravings (from all the food restrictions) which often can lead to a very unhealthy relationship with food. Not only that but any muscle you have, you may end up losing this if you lose weight too fast & you definitely don’t want that! Muscle tissue is literally a burning machine and is what burns all those calories up. Simply put – the more muscle you hold the more you can eat!! 

I plead with you PLEASE don’t give in to desperation & guilt from overindulging at Christmas. You enjoyed the food you ate. Feel good about that. There are so many small steps that can help to start you off instead of delving too fast into changing. 

If its portion control you struggle with, use smaller bowls at home. I use this & It works. Nothing worse than a wee portion on a huge plate 

If it’s cravings – don’t have them in or for example, buy smaller bars of chocolate instead of the 100g size. 

TRACK! Keeping accountable for what i eat really helps me stay within my calories. Iv used MyFitnessPal for years now and is what’s kept me right
