Stress – How exercise can help

Stress can have more of an effect on your health and fitness goals than you might think.

Nowadays most of us have something in our lives that can cause us to feel constantly stressed like our jobs, student or family lives.  Long story short, when we are under stress for a period of time our bodies trigger the fight or flight response which can cause us to crave the foods high in fat and sugar that we all know and love.  This leads to overeating and (you guessed it) WEIGHT GAIN.

Getting down to the gym and smashing a workout can help you to control your weight and relieve stress by allowing you to focus solely on your session and take your mind off whatever is bothering you.  Not to mention the endorphins that can instantly make you feel good and help you get a better night’s sleep!  I find nothing more rewarding than a good leg session when I feel stressed, tired or if there’s something on my mind.  No one ever regrets going to the gym even if it’s for one of our 30-minute classes at The Club Gym.

So before the mad (stressy!!!) Christmas rush which we all know is coming, get yourself into the habit of exercising and make it part of your lifestyle, not just before and after Christmas.

I promise you’ll feel much better for it!
